(Slightly Edited) Drowning in a Word

Light the fire
it’s time to write away

another day,

to lay my soul down
and bleed over the page.

This muse I love,
this muse I hate
and when it hurts it kills.

damn, it kills

But I don't suppose
someone unafflicted
ever would

know that nearly
dying

as I try
to breathe new life

could ever feel this good.

So
Cover my aches with verbs
and drown me now
in lovely words.

such lovely words......

I adore the words here, Sara.
Lovely title, lovely pen name & a powerful poem to match.

Thanks, Susan. It's great of you to stop in. I know you love drowing in your words as much as I do. It's wonderful to know people who "get it".

in love with this one.. for the way you edit it ..revisit it... look at it ovre your shoulder.. again and again.. and then call it
slightly edited... and that too within brackets.. this is a beautiful quirk of expression romancewriter.

Sara; that ought to be posted on the NaNoWriMo home page! I love it! I've never seen anyone express the feeling better.

I doubt I will ever get this poem just right. I want it to show the sweet ache that is my teetering relationship with the written word.
But I hope that it does convey a small portion of what it means to be like us.

Thanks. You can only imagine how I will treasure your comment forever.
