one breath

In so few words you create an unforgettable image, Sara. One breath, on blink.. I get a sense of finality..drifting off into endless sleep, like a snapshot of one's last minutes on death bed. I'm sorry to be so morbid, Sara. (Perhaps my mother's upcoming surgery is bothering me more than I'd like to admit.)

This poem reminds me of when I was sick, and it felt so nice to fall asleep with my head in my husband's lap.
