....and in the end,
it falls the same.

one breath

one blink remains.

the best to
hope for,

all things the same,

your hand to hold

as I
drift away.

Note- This was written for Poets Who Blogs. The prompt was Comfort.

A definite peacefulness to this poem with a warm feeling as it closes.

In so few words you create an unforgettable image, Sara. One breath, on blink.. I get a sense of finality..drifting off into endless sleep, like a snapshot of one's last minutes on death bed. I'm sorry to be so morbid, Sara. (Perhaps my mother's upcoming surgery is bothering me more than I'd like to admit.)

This poem reminds me of when I was sick, and it felt so nice to fall asleep with my head in my husband's lap.

You brought me to that place with a beautiful simplicity of words.
