Like a desert who longs for a flood,
you come over me with fingers scorching from the sun
that has beat you down
and this life
they saddled you with, you say
it just ain't right
ain't right
nothing should be so hard
but, boy,
we all got scars and rivers that are running dry
inside,
as the news sells all those lies.
It just ain't right
ain't right
you can say it again a couple hundred times
repeat it like a flashing sign
shout it from that mirage of a mountaintop
where you stay
left me lonely but its you
who will say
It just ain't right
ain't right
its not going to rain in the desert tonight
your touch has gone to ground
you're lost
never come around
no more
weary from your cracked life
it's so unfair and you just can't survive
you know that just ain't right
ain't right
ain't right

I like this. It could be a song.
ah there it is ! i was wondering where i nthe list was sara's poem !
another beautiful vision of the desert from you...i love the way it sifts through this passage
''and this life
they saddled you with, you say
it just ain't right
ain't right
nothing should be so hard
but, boy,
we all got scars and rivers that are running dry
inside,
as the news sells all those lies.
It just ain't right
ain't right''
and it is left so wonderfully '' untitled''

"we all got scars and rivers that are running dry
inside,"
"its not going to rain in the desert tonight/your touch has gone to ground"
how gracefully you wrap raw emotion in breathtaking imagery and heart tugging lines.
your words in this are intense, I really enjoyed reading
I must agree with marie-It could easily be a song. The way in which you use repetition and still come up with wonderful poems will never cease to amaze me.
I really like the verse:
we all got scars and rivers that are running dry
Oh and by the way I'm listed twice in the blogroll of "Poets who blog". "Untimely meditations" is the former title of my blog. :o)
I just love this! I love poems that show raw/intense emotions, just like I want to hear "full voice" in a capella. This line is primo:
""we all got scars and rivers that are running dry
inside,"
..and I'd like to buy it from you. ;>
The refrain "It just ain't right ain't right" *is* right. It's perfect. I read this as lyrics, tho, but please take no offense. I tend to do that a lot because I'm very into music and the possibilities of adapting poems to lyrics.
Sara, I wish I had written this. :>
Thanks so much for your kind words, everyone. They mean a lot to me.
Sara
i feel like this is a speech. i imagine it being spoken outloud. I can hear it. Great stuff.
